Environmental and labour protection

Our contribution to the protection of health and environment

The cliché of the simple road worker, enveloped in wafts of fume, is a thing of the past. Regulations in the laying of asphalt have become more and more stringent. Nevertheless, the exposure of workers to vapours and aerosols cannot be denied. For occupational health and safety reasons, it should be our common goal to further reduce these burdens. Asphalt temperatures should be kept as low as possible during production and laying.

Measurements conducted during trials have shown that with the use of aspha-min® and the associated reduction of the mixing and laying temperatures the amount of vapours and aerosols is significantly reduced. For instance, with the lowering of the mixing temperature by 26 °C, a reduction of 74% in emissions of ultra-fine particles could be measured which also leads to considerably lower exposures for the workers at the construction site.
